Well it’s been a while, hasn’t it?! Three months. Back to blogging after a summer off! Three whole months, a whole lot of lockdown and plenty of blog catching up to do. I thought I would have enough time to add to the blog during the last few months but its amazing how much time is taken up with work and other things.
Lockdown. Well that’s something I never thought would happen when bringing in the year 2020! Here in the UK we’ve got used to wearing masks in public that previously I’ve only ever seen one or two tourists wear on the tube. So many random areas of the UK are also having their own lockdowns and we wait to see what the latest rule changes will do.
There is so much different information all over the place, some people are worried, some are angry. Some wear masks, some won’t. You only have to read a newspaper or listen to people talk on the TV or radio to see how many different views there are. It really has been the strangest of times and I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
Now, even though I’ve been keeping busy, I’ve finally found some time to write and I really enjoy it. Not just blogging either, my creative writing is also making a comeback! Having always had an interest in writing over the years and with a novel and play idea in my head, I’m glad to get back to letting out some writing creativity on the computer keyboard!
Whilst I’ve been away, as well as work, I’ve really got into the homeware / DIY side of things. From B&Q to B&M, I have been enjoying learning about and preparing for redecorating a bedroom and cloakroom area. I have sourced certain switches and sockets, went on a long (and finally successful) hunt for a duvet set I fell in love with on first sight in a magazine (anyone else out there like this about duvet sets?!), learnt about different kinds of wallpaper, sinks, kitchen units, etc. I also became a bit of a cushion collector during my search for the new beloved duvet set! I had to stop (for a while!).

Next month I will be wallpapering two rooms, both very different in size and with different kinds of wallpaper. I will be doing a blog post on my progress and what I will have learnt along the way. I would have done this sooner but other things like plumbing and electricity work have to be completed first. I’ve got to wait a week and a few days for the electric work to be completed, then it’s all go with the lining paper!
Aside from work and all the new homeware / DIY research and shopping, there’s always time for telly! I’ve recently been watching Selling Sunset and The Only Way Is Essex – two guilty pleasure TV shows that have me addicted! With all the home stuff I’ve been looking at, I discovered HGTV, a channel which I hadn’t noticed before and have been enjoying numerous episodes of Flip or Flop, Our House, Homes Under The Hammer and My Lottery Dream Home – if you’re in the UK, check out Sky 158 or Freeview 42.
David Tennant was amazing as always in the recent Des, very creepy and the attention to detail was all too real. I also caught up on two TV shows that I’d previously missed starring Sheridan Smith – Cleaning Up and The 7:39. I know when Sheridan is in anything it’s going to be brilliant. Such a natural talent and lovely person too. The 7:39 showed a new side to David Morrisey that I hadn’t noticed before 😉 another excellent British actor who could play any kind of character given to him and play it very well indeed. Add Olivia Colman to the mix and you’ve got some great telly right there!

I love a really good TV drama and this time of year seems to be when new TV dramas are released. Great to relax and watch in the cosy evenings that autumn brings. Netflix also looks like it has some interesting new documentaries and series ahead. I’m currently watching Ratched, I love the era with those classic cars and fashion. I’ve only seen one episode as I publish this, so I’m interested to see how that one plays out!
